Course kit for methods instructors
A free class workspace for one semester, a ready-made interview assignment and a student guide. Your students run a real study from guide to coded transcripts.
What your class gets
A free class workspace
40 seats and 9,000 shared credits a month for one semester, up to five months. A text interview uses 1 credit a minute, so that is about 150 hours of text interviews a month across the class.
The whole study in one place
Students write a guide, run AI interviews by voice or text, and code the transcripts by hand or with AI suggestions. They can export the project to NVivo, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA.
Coder agreement as an exercise
A partner codes the same interviews independently and the workspace reports Cohen's kappa, so students practise reliability on their own data.
Help with the write-up
Each project produces a methods paragraph that records the model and settings used, and a software citation.
A ready-made assignment
Copy it into your course page and adjust it to your syllabus.
Assignment: a small interview study
1. In pairs, choose a research question about a topic from this course.
2. Write an interview guide of six to eight open questions and set it up as an AI interview project in QualiTaTi.
3. Pilot the interview on yourselves and revise the guide. Then collect three interviews each from volunteers who have read the information sheet and agreed to take part.
4. Each partner codes all the transcripts independently in the QDA workspace. Compare your codes and report Cohen's kappa.
5. Agree a final codebook and write a 1,000-word report: research question, method (edit the generated methods paragraph), three themes with quotes, and a reflection on what the AI interviewer did well and badly.
Submit the report and the exported .qdpx project file.
Student guide
- Create a free QualiTaTi account with your university email and verify it.
- Open the join link your instructor shares. You join the class workspace and its shared credits.
- Create an interview project from your guide and test it yourself before inviting anyone.
- Share the interview link with your participants. Transcripts appear in the project as interviews finish.
- Code the transcripts in the QDA workspace, invite your partner as second coder, and export your project for submission.
How it works
- Apply below with your course details. A person at QualiTaTi reviews each application.
- Once approved, you own the class workspace and share its join link with your students.
- Credits reset every 30 days for the whole class.
- The workspace closes at the end of your semester. Students go back to the Free plan and keep their own projects.
Consent and ethics text
Students can adapt the information sheet, consent statements and AI-use disclosure from the ethics kit.

Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. The class workspace is free for one semester. When it ends, members go back to the Free plan, which includes 30 credits a month.
My class has more than 40 students.
Say so in your application. We'll look at larger classes case by case.
What happens to student work when the semester ends?
Each student keeps their own projects, transcripts and exports. Only the shared credits and the workspace membership end.
Where is the data stored?
The trust page explains where research data is stored, who processes it and where AI runs.
